Saturday, July 30, is the date for Woodstock, Vermont’s third annual “Bookstock: the Green Mountain Festival of Words.” Woodstock has a large summer population and is a destination town for many vacationers, so a fairly good-sized crowd is likely to show up. Unlike many of our shows that are aimed primarily at bookstores and publishing professionals, the Bookstock attendees are simply members of the public who are interested in books.
The festival will run all weekend at various venues around town, but the books exhibit will be held on Saturday only, from 10 AM to 5 PM, under a large tent on the village green. Bookstock will include appearances by about 20 authors (including the Pulitzer Prize winning Tom Powers, who will give the keynote address), two second-hand book sales, outdoor music performances, as well as exhibit tables for publishers and others involved in books and bookselling. Last year, the IPNE tables had a lot of traffic and several members successfully sold some books. This year, IPNE will have three tables.
