New IPNE Board Takes Office

New board members are Isai Gutierrez, Michael DeSanto, Odile Sullivan-Tarazi, and Scott Channell. Re-elected is Charlotte Pierce. Serving out another year of their two-year terms are Mike Rochester, Connelly Akstens, and the president, Eddie Vincent. You'll find updated biographies of your new board members on this page.

Jon Meyer, Spencer Smith, and Ruby Fink leave the board, with our deep gratitude for their service.

Even though this year's board positions are filled, there remain a variety of roles for volunteers in communications, web management, membership development, regional groups, and volunteer coordination.

IPNE helps independent publishers build and grow their publishing and related businesses. We invite you to support the Board team as we collaborate to "make better books and sell more of them."

Jane Friedman Delivers on Author

About 100 authors and publishers attended the January 13 webinar with "Hot Sheet" publisher and book marketing expert Jane Friedman on 1/13, 12–2 pm ET.

Book Marketing Cornerstones provided practical, actionable information for boosting book sales and building author platforms.

Ingram Spark, Publishers Weekly,
Jane Friedman Highlight 10th Annual
IPNE Conference

What a terrific 10th Annual Conference! If you attended, you'll receive links to recordings of the sessions. Speaker bios are here

and the schedule remains posted to refresh your memory.

What did you learn at the conference? What connections did you make? What would you like to see next year? We'd be grateful for your feedback via our 2021 Conference Evaluation Form.

Highlights among the offerings at the 10th annual event, on November 5 and 6, were several talks and Q&As with Platinum sponsor IngramSpark president Paige Allen.

Ms. Allen keynoted along with Cevin Breyerman of Publishers Weekly and indie book guru Jane Friedman. Ms. Allen also participated in two breakout sessions at the (virtual) conference, including a Q&A-style session with her colleague and longtime IPNE contact, Josh Floyd.

The majority of our members have published through Ingram, so we received many questions from author-publishers. They didn't hold back about their experiences on the popular print-on-demand platform!

We are grateful for sponsors like IngramSpark, Seapoint Books, Voice Over Vermont, Pierce Press, Encircle Publications, The Fictional Cafe, and Nate Hoffelder (The Digital Reader). These sponsorships allowed us to offer this year's conference for free to our members and at a discount to the public. Please show your appreciation by using their products and services!

Join or Coordinate Your Own IPNE
Regional Group

Among IPNE's more popular initiatives are the local groups that are forming across the region. Groups active this year include Maine, Vermont, and Metro Boston Publishers. Southeast Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rhode Island are in need of coordinators, but discussion groups have been set up and these groups have a core membership. Contact Board member Charlotte Pierce for more information.

Thanks to Meditative Gardner, 2019 Book of the Year winner Cheryl Wilfong, and HeartWood Press publisher Lynn Levine for organizing this year's thriving Vermont Regional Group! Click here to join the Vermont regional discussion group.

Membership in IPNE regional branches is open to all, with extra benefits available to those who become IPNE members. Use the IPNE contact form for help starting a branch in your area, and watch our events page for existing regional group meetings.
